One of my many obessions over the summer has been fiber art and yarn. I spent many hours dying, carding, spinning, combing, plying, setting, and ogling animal fibers. I have become so enamored, in fact, that I have decided to start a small gentlelady's farm with a few fiber animals of my very own. I plan to start with rabbits and alpacas, and then I shall see where the winds take me.
I learned so much over the summer about this artform, which has been wonderful and enlightening. It never ceases to amaze me how simply performing a task over and over, with a touch of stubbornness every time failure rears its little head, will lead to some measure of mastery over your abilities. I definitely made plenty of mistakes while expanding my fibery skills, but I have emerged as a much better spinner.
