I assure you, I have been toiling away these past few days. I just don't have much to show for it. I've been working on contacting stores around St. Louis to carry my work, and so far I've heard back from one. (More on that later, if all goes well.) I framed four of my five pieces for Venus Envy, but they're sitting in my dad's basement, so they aren't exactly picture worthy, yet. I've been working on setting myself up as a business. I sent in my registration for a fictitious name Saturday, and I'm trying to figure out the rest of the tax forms, as well. I also put up some more prints in the shop and finally finished a banner for it.

I did get a chance to go to the Queeny Park Fine Arts Festival, which was really pretty cool. I bought a paper cut of a squirrel by Lou Hii, which is incredible. He had so many other great pieces, but they were all out of my price range. I also got a hand-colored etching by Jan Havens, which is too cute to believe. The title is "Frogs Learning Table Manners," and the caption around the edge reads, "Don't let your food fly away. Don't eat with your fingers; use your tongue. Try the ants. Eat fast before it crawls away." I love frogs and couldn't resist.
We bumped into Kieran's old art teacher, Joan Marie, who must have been the best high school art teacher ever. Mine was an absolute nut, who would wear one sneaker and one pump to school and who gave the wrong grades all the time because she didn't feel like figuring out what line grades were supposed to go on in the grade book. This woman was so encouraging. I usually don't like this kind of art, since I get rather burnt out on it, but I really like hers, particularly this piece. It's nice to hear about the art world from someone who's really made it.
I guess that's enough talk for now. If you made it down to the bottom of this post, congratulations. I will reward you with pictures in the next day or two.
