I've been mulling over the concept of a series of ghosts of St. Louis for a while now, and I think I may have just stumbled on the beginning of it. I was actually just trying to use up some of that mat board that's left over from the window mats I've been cutting, but I think this is the right direction for me. If I can get some scans that I'm actually pleased with, I think I'll begin with scenes around my parents' house. They have a creepy old turn-of-the-century house, and I've always been terrified of ghosts there. The time has come to face another fear via my artwork.
Also, I'd like to thank all the things that turned this very crummy day into a nice relaxing one: Neko Case, cake, colored pencils (even if I didn't use them yet, they're still on my desk), a significant reduction in the ant population in our house, soup, Willy Wonka, a sudden and inexplicable understanding of how to keep the windows open in our house, Miho Hatori, a nicely orgainized file cabinet, flip flops, recently shaved legs (I only did it because I had to go to the foot doctor, but now I'm glad I did), and the two lovely ladies that checked in my artwork for the jurying of the Forces of Entry show I did the cloud piece for.
And, of course, long sentences ending in prepositions.
